26 March 2015

Securitas are delighted to announce it has been awarded the contract to provide security at Europe’s busiest ferry port.

Securitas is passionate about providing the business with an excellent service to its passengers and staff.

The Port of Dover is a vital international gateway handling 13 million passengers and £100 billion of trade per annum. It is also the second busiest cruise port in the UK and hosts some of the world’s most prestigious cruise lines. Other businesses include a cargo terminal, an award-winning marina and several niche activities.

Around 80 Securitas officers will provide a safe, secure environment for port users and staff as well as responding, as required, to any security related issue.

Angus Wilson, Specialist Services Director at Securitas, said: “This is an excellent win for Securitas and we’re very proud to have won this prestigious account. We will be providing a high profile security presence at the Port, with fully trained and experienced personnel providing a high level of customer service, efficiency, commitment and performance.”

Emma Ward, Head of Port Operations, Port of Dover, said: “The Port is committed to providing the very best security as part of its role to help protect a key international gateway and keep the UK economy moving. I look forward to working closely with Securitas on delivering a first class service for our customers.”

The contract started on 1 February 2015 and will meet the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security code in respect of the current Port Facility Security Instructions served on Dover Harbour Board by the Maritime Transport Security Division of the Department for Transport.
