Taking place on Friday 22nd November 2019, National Cyber Security Centre Cyber Schools Hub: EmPowerCyber is the first cyber security event of its kind in the UK.
The event will host 800 Year 8 Girls from schools across Gloucestershire, with 16 supporting industries running interactive cyber workshops. Also attended by over 80 industry personnel, the key aim of the event is to encourage the girls to enter the CyberFirst competition in January 2020.

Allcooper and Securitas are pleased to be supporting the EmPowerCyber event by funding the industry lunch. Interactive workshops will be taking place throughout the day to excite and inspire girls to consider future careers within the cyber security and information technology industries.
Workshops will be delivered by representatives from a wide range of cyber-focused industries, who will be covering the following categories ahead of the CyberFirst competition:
  • Cryptography
  • Cyber Security
  • Logic & Coding
  • Networking

What is the Cyber Schools Hub?

The Cyber Schools Hub (CSH) is a project that fosters collaboration between local schools, the National Cyber Security Centre, companies and organisations who share the aim of encouraging young people to engage with computer science and cyber security principles.
The CSH works with local industries to excite, enthuse and inspire students into considering careers within the industry. Since the project began, schools within the project have seen a significant increase in the number of students wishing to study computer science at GCSE, A-Level, university and apprenticeship level.
