    As a Security Officer at Securitas, you’ll do more than protect a site — you’ll help create a safe, controlled, and professional environment where people and operations can function with confidence. Your presence will reassure clients, visitors, and contractors alike, reflecting the highest standards of Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness at every stage of your shift. This role places a strong emphasis on customer service, site protection, and attention to detail, ensuring procedures are followed while risks are proactively identified and managed.

    From escorting contractors and controlling site access to monitoring alarms, managing keys, and completing accurate logbooks, no two days will ever be the same. As a Security Officer, you’ll also play a key role in traffic control, visitor management, equipment checks, and maintaining the overall safety of property and premises — all while representing Securitas and the client to the highest standard.

    Job Description

    What you'll be doing:

    • Escort contractors and approved visitors within controlled areas, ensuring permissions and compliance with site rules.
    • Prevent and deter unauthorised access through rigorous access control, ID verification, and perimeter vigilance.
    • Monitor and respond to alarms (fire/intruder) promptly, following escalation and incident procedures.
    • Conduct regular patrols of key areas, including secure corridors, entry points, and restricted zones.
    • Provide traffic management within the site boundary and enforce parking restrictions to maintain safety and order.
    • Carry out routine tests on security equipment (e.g., alarms, radios, control room systems) and report defects immediately.
    • Manage keys and conduct locking/unlocking duties strictly in accordance with Assignment Instructions.
    • Operate within control room protocols (where applicable), including radio comms, incident logging, and monitoring activities.
    • Issue and account for passes (visitor/contractor) accurately; maintain strict audit trails as per procedures.
    • Maintain logbooks and records to a high standard, ensuring timely, accurate, and legible entries.
    • Handle lost property according to site procedures, documenting receipt, storage, and return.
    • Engage with Securitas Core Values (Integrity, Vigilance, Helpfulness) in every interaction, delivering professional customer service.

    Qualifications

    What we’re looking for:

    We’re looking for someone who values teamwork, shows initiative, and wants to grow. Ideally, you’ll have:

    • Willingness to complete enhanced security screening and vetting, which may delay start date (1-3 months dependent on individual)
    • Valid SIA licence (Door Supervisor or Security Guarding) or ability to obtain.
    • Right to work in the UK with required documentation.
    • Ability to follow strict procedures in a highly regulated, controlled environment.
    • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to remain calm, professional, and vigilant at all times.
    • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
    • Ability to comply with strict device restrictions while on duty.
