    📍 Location Reading
    💰 Pay: £14.91 per hour, £32,600 per year
    📅 Hours: 42, 4 on 4 off

    The security officer is responsible for preventing unauthorised access, monitoring fire and intruder alarms, CCTV, and overall site activity. Duties include conducting internal and external patrols, where the security officer manages traffic control points, carries out routine equipment tests, and oversees key control and locking procedures in line with Assignment Instructions. The security officer must also ensure customer‑provided equipment is used correctly, maintain accurate logs, manage visitor and contractor access, and handle lost property in accordance with site procedures.

    Note, this role requires you to have the following:

    • Prior experience working within a control room environment
    • Good telephone manner and confident communication skills
    • Computer literate with strong IT ability
    • MUST hold a valid SIA Licence and CCTV Licence
    • Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends
    • Right to work in the UK with a 5‑year checkable history
    • Strong written and spoken communication skills in English

    Job Description

    Responsibilities

    You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:

    Responsibilities

    Prevent Loss and Waste

    • Report risks of loss, damage, or vandalism.
    • Switch off unnecessary lights and secure windows during patrols.

    Prevent and Deter Crime

    • Operate on‑site security devices.
    • Follow stop‑and‑search procedures when required.
    • Report incidents and suspicious activity.

    Customer Service

    • Deliver excellent customer service and resolve issues.
    • Maintain a professional appearance.
    • Answer calls professionally as per Assignment Instructions.

    Other Responsibilities

    • Book on at shift start and complete check calls.
    • Complete paperwork and handovers promptly.
    • Perform additional duties requested by management.
    • Demonstrate Securitas Core Values.
    • Identify risks and follow company procedures.

    Health and Safety

    • Support staff, visitors, and contractors to maintain safety.
    • Follow H&S processes and report hazards or incidents.
    • Keep escape routes clear.
    • Check First Aid supplies and report shortages.
    • Notify SOC in emergencies and follow instructions.
    • Investigate fire alarm activations.
