Securitas UK Carbon Reduction Plan 2025

At Securitas, we understand that providing safe, secure environments goes hand in hand with protecting the planet. Since 2016, we have been measuring and reporting our carbon emissions so we can reduce our environmental impact while delivering high-quality security services. Our 2025 Carbon Reduction Plan explains our progress so far and the steps we are taking to meet our science-based climate targets.

Securitas Security Services (UK) Limited has committed to reducing its carbon emissions by 42% by 2030, using 2022 as the UK baseline year. This target, aligned with Securitas AB, has been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The plan expands our reporting across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and focuses on improving transparency and data quality.

The report shows a reduction in total emissions from 40,797 tCO2e in 2022 to 20,129 tCO2e in 2024. The largest reductions have come from lower employee commuting emissions, supported by homeworking, commuter travel surveys and more efficient deployment of staff to client sites. While overall emissions have fallen, Scope 1 emissions have risen due to fleet growth and operational expansion.

To reduce our impact, we have streamlined our building portfolio, prioritised smaller hub locations, introduced telematics to improve driving behaviour, adopted a policy to purchase renewable electricity where we control buildings, renewed older vehicles with more efficient models and selected electric vehicles where routes and locations allow. We are also rolling out BS EN ISO 14001 certification and encouraging hybrid working to cut commuter journeys.

Looking ahead, the plan recognises that most emissions come from employee commuting, purchased goods and services, and business travel (fleet vehicles). Key next steps include building a network of sustainability leaders to improve commuter engagement, increasing access to electric vehicles through employee benefits, and working with suppliers to share energy efficiency and carbon reduction best practice. The Carbon Reduction Plan has been prepared in line with PPN 06/21 and relevant greenhouse gas reporting standards.
