Our CoVID-19 coronavirus business continuity plans

As news develops and we learn more about the UK Government’s response to the pandemic from the daily coronavirus press conference updates, I am sure you will be sharing increasing concerns in respect of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
 
I am writing to update you on how we are actively monitoring the COVID-19 coronavirus situation and taking steps to help keep our people, our clients and our communities safe.
 
In this letter I want to share with you some of the steps we have taken.

Aligning with public health authorities

We have crisis management teams focused on our response to this pandemic and we have detailed business continuity plans in place, with clearly defined escalation procedures.
 
We are closely monitoring updates from the World Health Organisation and UK GOV regarding COVID-19 coronavirus and will continue to seek guidance from public health officials and government agencies.

Protecting our employees and clients

As our employees interact with clients and the general public daily, it is very important they understand what they need to do to avoid catching or spreading the virus.
 
Our managers are in daily communication with all our employees, reminding them about the importance of good hygiene and that they must follow NHS guidelines if they feel unwell.
 
We are reinforcing good hygiene practices at all our Securitas premises and on-site, and making sure handwashing facilities, sanitisers, hand gels and antiseptic wipes are readily available to all our officers.
 
We are also working with suppliers to source as many sanitisers and protective supplies as possible and have protocols in place to activate deep cleans and appropriate quarantine procedures, as recommended by government and health agencies.


We have specific quarantine and communication procedures in place if an employee is diagnosed with COVID-19 or self-isolates in line with the latest NHS advice.
 
In addition, we have placed restrictions on business travel and on intra-office working and have well established remote-working solutions in place. We have also postponed all non-critical training at key locations until further notice.

Core business-critical functions

Our core business-critical functions have been segregated and access further restricted to protect our operations and help prevent the spread of the virus. This includes our 24/7 Securitas Operations Centre, for which we have comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
 
Key members of the Securitas team who manage or who work in business-critical roles are also working remotely.

Our commitment to our clients and our communities

The situation we are facing with the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus is unprecedented.
 
However, I believe that as an organisation we have put in place robust measures to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our employees and ensure that any business impact to our clients is minimised.
 
As the situation evolves, we will continue to review our business continuity plans in line with advice from WHO, UK GOV and the NHS and actively monitor the situation through our Securitas Intelligence Unit (SIU).
