Securitas to host Wellbeing Week in September

06 September 2018

As part of its ongoing commitment to safety, Securitas will host a week dedicated to health, safety and wellbeing in September. Taking place from 10 – 16 September, Securitas’ Wellbeing Week will focus on several key areas; safety in the workplace and home environment, lone worker and driver road safety in addition to general fitness, mental health and wellbeing and fire safety. The week will end with a family safety & fun day at our Securitas Operations Centre (SOC) in Milton Keynes.

Securitas has partnered with Time to Change, a social movement run by charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, signing a pledge to raise awareness of mental health and encourage open conversation in the workplace. More than 800 employers across the country have signed the pledge.

Grainne Kelly, Director of HR & Securitas Operations Centre commented: “Safety is our first priority on a daily basis, we all have a part to play in keeping ourselves and others safe and protected. Personal safety should also include individual mental health and wellbeing and Securitas has pledged to drive recognition of this extremely important issue. Recent stats from Time to Change show that 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem and 9 in 10 say they have faced negative treatment from others as a result.

“Securitas UK is committed to the wellbeing of its employees, aiming to provide a supportive work environment. Through education, training and events, we will raise awareness of mental health and encourage colleagues to talk openly about issues they may be experiencing. Signing the Time to Change pledge is the start of a longer-term plan.”

Phil Thomas, EHS Manager at Securitas commented: “Securitas retained its RoSPA President’s Award for health and safety in April this year. The award was in recognition of practices and achievements to ensure colleagues and clients get home safely at the end of each working day.

“We are proud of our safety record to date, but there is always more we can do. Wellbeing Week is a way for us to place even more focus on health, safety and wellbeing and to engage with our colleagues across the business.”
